In Toronto, whether relocating from another country or province or making a transition from another neighbourhood, choosing a community and area to live-in, is one of the biggest decisions we make. Bloor West Villagein west-end Toronto is a family-centric hood where baby buggies rule the sidewalks on the main drag of the shopping district along Bloor Street. Young urban Moms and nannies stroll along the streets with their kids and cappuccinos after yoga picking up their odds and ends at markets along the way. Shopping varies from smaller family-owned to boutique types with trendy names. The main demographic is young professional families with kids. This hood has quiet streets lined with mature trees and solid detached and semi-detached brick houses. Yards vary in size, but are usually landscaped and well cared for. Many of those working downtown hop on the subway and leave their cars at home.
High Parkis another west-end Toronto hood for those looking for a magical neighbourhood, which was named after Toronto’s largest public park. This pocket is also within steps of Bloor West Village’s shopping district, with cafes, flower and fruit markets, restaurants and boutiques. The High Park hood is a treed pocket with handsome large brick two and three storey houses, perfect for upsizing your space. Over time, many of the properties have seen renovations and restorations drawing big price tags when they sell. High scoring schools are another draw for parents moving into the area. High Park offers a cornucopia of sporting events for the family and kids ranging from soccer to baseball. Families, professionals, singles, artists, those in education and law are some of the local demographics living here. Biking along the treed streets and into the park is a typical sight you’ll find, along with dogs being walked. Two different pet stores are just down the street from the park, attesting to the popularity of local beloved pets.
Roncesvalles Villageis another hot west-end Hood that is attracting those with a European and hip flavour. Roncesvalles Avenue buzzes with street life from the bakeries, fabulous eateries, delicatessens, boutiques, pizzerias, bars and cafes. You feel the strong community feeling and involvement from local street parties to festivals. A very organic type of artsy resident chooses this hood with its spacious brick two and three storey properties that line the treed streets running off the main shopping drag. The housing stock has continued to become more and more restored and redesigned with contemporary additions, adding to the traditional period details found inside. Street parking and laneways are the norm, and locals often jump on their bikes and public transportation for fast commuting. The Roncesvalles Hood has become hotter over time and has become a community that the locals choose to move within, rather than out.
The Junctionin west-end Toronto is becoming ever so popular as surrounding hood prices increase. Young urbanites looking for a fresh and organic community are looking at this growing hot area. The main Junction shopping district along Dundas Street West is gaining popular notoriety as a design area of west Toronto. With organic grocers and eateries, pubs, cafes, Starbucks, restaurants, Yoga and Pilate’s studios, design, salvage and restoration stores, this area is drawing a lot of interest. Young urban cool hipsters are buying the Victorian semis, Townhouses and detached properties that populate the area. Pricing is still a bit lower than some of the surrounding areas, and both done and undone properties are being bought up and transformed into hip contemporary spaces.
Those moving to west-end Toronto from a condo, another neighbourhood or country are finding the green spaces, abundance of parks, vibrant shopping districts, excellent schools, lawns, public transportation, unique properties and treed winding streets a huge reason to want to call West-end Toronto Home!
